Dining Opportunities

From hip and trendy to traditional, it's all about choices

Dining Experiences That Will Stay in Your Memory!

As sophisticated Southerners, all SCBP members know Memphis as The Mother City of Barbecue. (Calvin Trillin, The New Yorker. You can look it up.) So shoulder and ribs (pork, of course) are on the menu.

But that’s not all. On Thursday night we'll break up into groups to enjoy four delightful downtown restaurants, each offering a unique menu and distinct atmosphere.

On Friday night, you'll have the opportunity to sample Memphis’ hot restaurant scene, choosing among fabulous presentations by Memphis chefs of French and Louisiana cuisine, sushi, authentic Italian, and more. (See list below, then choose your restaurant during the checkout process.)

Thursday night Dining Options
Automatic Slims

Automatic Slims — Current Presidents

Automatic Slim’s is an upscale restaurant that has been a staple of downtown Memphis for over 20 years specializing in American cuisine with a Southern flare. Along with the unique décor and hand carved bar, Automatic Slim’s offers one of the most extensive Martini menus in the city, winning several awards for creative mixology.

Flight — Presidents Elect

Both wine and food come in tasting flights at this sleek Downtown wine bar and dining room serving sophisticated American seafood, steaks and game. The elegant, bi-level space has white tablecloths, big windows and a sidewalk patio.

Rendezvous — Past Presidents

Memphis is the pork barbecue mecca of the world, and there are great joints in every nook and cranny of this town. That said, few would question that the Rendezvous is the quintessential Memphis experience. Meat is the calling card, but a big part of what makes The Rendezvous special is the experience. The smoky aroma is grilled meat and barbecue shake. The sounds of Memphis soul and delta blues, cut with clinking beer mugs and laughter. The taste is perfectly seasoned southern heaven.

Felicia Suzanne’s — Executive Directors

Since 2002 this corner of Main and Monroe in Downtown Memphis has been home to Felicia Suzanne’s Restaurant and her distinctly Southern mélange of class and sass. Inspirations from all over the South pepper the menu. There are down-home staples from Felicia’s Arkansas childhood, seafood in both the Gulf Coast and Charleston low-country traditions, and (of course) Memphis’ soulful BBQ style.
